Hidalgo county precinct 1 authorities spoke about a proposal that will improve the drainage system in the area.
Commissioner David Fuentes and other county officials said the 190 million dollar bond will benefit the community to prevent floods during storm season.
“If this bond is successful in the November ballot, we’re looking at starting the engineering as early as January. We’re looking at starting a lot of these projects where we have an existing right of way, existing opportunities to move these projects quickly.”
“We don’t want to go through this again and we want you the board members district number 1 to do something and that’s what we’re doing.”
The commissioners add that if this proposal is passed in November, it will create a 3 cent tax increase.
