EDINBURG – Hidalgo County commissioners approved the schematic design for the new county courthouse.

This design includes the first set of drawings and elevations, as well as the probable cost estimate of the building.

The estimated cost for the 10-story building is 157 million dollars, of those; 127.7 million dollars will be used for the building, site, and contingencies.

The other 29.3 million dollars will be used to cover other expenses, such as furniture, technology, and security equipment.

County commissioners have set another meeting scheduled for the last day of June, to discuss more about the building’s design.
