Trial continues for a Laredo man accused of murdering a business owner in 2015.
Defendant Justin Hernandez took the stand and told his side of the story. He’s accused of fatally beating Hector Benavides along with his brother and another suspect. His brother Efrain is serving 45 years in prison for this crime.
Today, Hernandez said he was visiting Laredo to see his wife’s grandmother when he scheduled to meet with his brother. An altercation ensued when Benavides told them to leave the parking lot after they couldn’t pay a 10 dollar fee.
He said he only punched the victim twice, but not with enough force to kill Benavides. Closing arguments will begin tomorrow.
