Camila Pena, a native of McAllen and a resident of Hidalgo, where she was raised, is a dedicated professional committed to journalism. After graduating from Hidalgo High School in 2016, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Communication with a minor in Spanish from the University of Texas A&M Kingsville.

Camila honed her skills as a writer at the ‘South Texan’ University newspaper, where she gained valuable journalistic experience. Fox News South Texas is proud to have Camila as one of our esteemed multimedia journalists and a valuable member of our news team.

In addition to her passion for journalism, Camila finds joy in spending time with her loved ones and making a positive impact in people’s lives through her reporting, aiming to unite her community.

Alondra de Hoyos

Alondra De Hoyos, a native of Mission and a resident of Hidalgo, Texas, is a passionate journalist dedicated to serving her community. In 2019, she graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and a minor in Theater. Alondra furthered her education at UTRGV, graduating with honors in 2021 with a Master’s degree in Communication.

Joining the Entravision News team in 2021 as a Multimedia Journalist, Alondra reports for her community, produces content, and serves as a Weather Forecaster for Noticias 48 and FOX RGV. She takes great pride in representing her community and providing a voice for those who need it most.

Alondra feels a deep responsibility to inform her community to the best of her abilities, ensuring they are aware of crucial resources and news that impact their lives. She considers it a great honor to fulfill this role every day.

Samantha Ruiz is a reporter born in Houston and raised in Donna, Texas. She graduated from Donna North High School in 2017 and went on to attend the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), majoring in Mass Communication with a concentration in Broadcast and minoring in Business Management.

Samantha enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is passionate about her job because it allows her to help her community in every way possible, which is why she chose this career path.

Her guiding quote is, “Be the voice of the unheard.”

 


Karen Lucero- Reporter

Karen Lucero is a passionate journalist who brings a fresh perspective to her reporting. Born in Brownsville, she discovered her love for storytelling early on, which led her to pursue a degree in Mass Communication at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). During her time at UTRGV, Karen honed her skills and gained valuable experience as part of a TV news station.

After graduating in 2022, Karen embarked on her professional journey, joining Entravision. Here, she continues to make a difference by informing and engaging with her community. Karen’s dedication to her craft is matched only by her love for learning. She enjoys challenging herself and believes that growth comes from embracing new experiences, even when they are difficult.

Outside of work, Karen finds joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loves reading, playing games, and spending quality time with her friends and loved ones. Karen’s approach to life and work is best captured by her favorite quote: “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.”
