In Harlingen, authorities have now ruled the discovery of a body at an apartment complex a homicide. One suspect is now behind bars.
On Tuesday morning 47-year-old Honorio Garza was found unresponsive in his home. 35-year-old Ruben Rodriguez is now being charged with murder in connection to Garza’s death.
“He was a disturbed man and something was going on that night. We don’t know exactly what was going on but the next morning it all pointed to him.”
Robert Rodriguez has lived at the apartment complex for more than a year, he tells Fox News Ruben Rodriguez was known for causing conflicts between his neighbors.
“He would come up here to the front screaming and yelling under the influence of whatever it may be, but for him to cause this we didn’t expect it.”
On December 4 around 9:30 am Harlingen officials responded to the 1500 block of North Commerce Street.
“Through a course of the investigation, we discovered it was not of natural causes, so at that point, we started conducted a homicide investigation.”
Sergeant García adds that through evidence collected at the scene and the cooperation of witnesses, they were able to determine that Rodriguez was allegedly responsible for Garza’s death. Rodriguez is now facing murder charges and was given a bond of 500,000 dollars.
Officials say this case remains under investigation. They are waiting on autopsy results to determine the cause of Garza’s death. We will keep you informed as more information is made available.
