Over the weekend,an emergency alert was sent out urging residents to shelter-in -place since most hospitals have reached full capacity.
The Weslaco fire department provided a tent to set up a mobile hospital outside the free-standing emergency department to make room for more patients.
“There is a long number of patients that are arriving to emergency departments at one time and because of this it does cause a capacity issues. People are more sick which means they have to be admitted which means we have to find ways to create more space.”
