South Padre Island Businesses Suffer Due To Lack Of Tourists

The few small businesses still open at the island say they have to tend their restaurant by themselves as they aren’t making enough money to bring back their employees.

Maria Elena Jimenez and her husband have owned a local restaurant for over six years. She says they had to let go of their staff since they couldn’t afford to pay them.

Jimenez says the whole situation has affected them dramatically. Many people are not working, therefore, the flow of customers has decreased.
